The Best Times to Eat for Weight Loss

By on July 3, 2013

What are the best times to eat for weight loss? With all the information swirling around on the internet these days, it can be hard to know what is true. We did our best to find you the facts and bring them together in five easy steps!

1. Eat right when you wake up. It is one of the most important times to eat immediately when you wake up. This will help give your metabolism a jump start for the day and help you to wake up. Start the day off right with some parmesan asparagus with a fried egg or some avocado on whole wheat toast. A healthy start is guaranteed to set the tone for the rest of your day.

2. Eat small meals throughout the day. When you eat three big meals, you will have energy crashes in between as your body digests through the meal.  Eating a greater number of smaller meals throughout the day gives you a better chance of not breaking your diet. You will be less likely to snack or grab that soda. Do make sure your snacks each provide you with a little bit of fiber and protein so you are getting well-rounded, nutrient rich meals.

3. Eat carbs at night. If you are going to eat carbs, it is best times to eat them in the evening. This allows your body time to turn these foods into energy! Remember that fruits and veggies also contain carbs. The carbs we are talking about here are the breads, rice, and pasta.

4. Don’t eat late at night. We have talked about the best times to eat but if you want to know the worst time to eat, it is late at night. This is when many diet plans are ruined. You work hard all day to fill your body with the fresh and nutrient rich food it needs and then you ruin it with those late night snack cravings. We’ve all been there. Try to avoid this by keeping snacks like pickles, carrots, and berries on hand. These are low calorie snack options if you feel you absolutely must eat before bed.

5. Don’t worry so much. Worry less about when you are eating and just focus on putting good, fresh food into your body. If you are eating the right amounts of the food your body needs, the weight will come off regardless of what time of day you eat. Believe in yourself! You can do it! We hope these tips on times to eat help you reach your goals.
