These changes generally occur due to the normal wear and tear of aging. It is usually an age-related condition that affects the joints in your neck. The ligaments in your spine, which are strands of tissue that connect your bones, become stiffer as you age. This makes it more difficult and painful for you to move your neck.Getting regular exercise can help you recover faster from this pain. Symptoms and causes of cervical are as follows

Common symptoms related to neck pain and disorders include:

  • Neck pain is the most common symptom of cervical. If you usually feel neck pain that radiates into the shoulder, arm and upper back then it may be the sign of cervical pain.
  • Headache is also a common symptom of it.
  • Pain while moving neck or reduced range of neck motion is sign of cervical.
  • Inability to fully turn the head or bend the neck, sometimes interfering with driving
  • Grinding noise or sensation when the neck is turned
  • Upper extremity numbness, weakness
  • Slower reflexes in upper and lower extremities
  • a loss of balance and a loss of bladder or bowel control.
  • Numbness or weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  • Lack of coordination and difficulty walking
  • Abnormal reflexes
  • Muscle spasms

Causes

  1. If you do activities that put extra strain on your neck from heavy lifting can results in cervical pain.
  2. Cervical facet joints allow the neck to flex, extend, and rotate. These small joints are susceptible to arthritis and injury. Problem in any of this joint can cause cervical condition.
  3. Repetitive stress on your neck that is holding your neck in an uncomfortable position for prolonged periods of time or repeating the same neck movements throughout the day cause this condition.
  4. Family history of cervical or genetic factors can also be its cause.
  5. Cervical intervertebral discs may bulge, herniate and prone to other degenerative problems. Degenerative disc disease is an often age-related condition. Cervical disc bulges may cause nerve irritation resulting in pain and symptoms.
  6. Smoking is injurious and it can also cause cervical problem.
  7. Being overweight and inactive is major reason for various diseases. Cervical can also be caused by increased weight.
  8. Muscle strain is a common cause of neck pain. Such disorders are self-limiting and usually improve after sometime.
